15th Year of Swinging with the Stars Hits Record Breaking Year $550,000

The 15th annual Swinging with Stars hits another record-breaking year and what a night. Together with our supporters, we are creating a community where no one has to die or grief alone. Every contribution will have a significant impact in the Central Okanagan and thank you to our community for helping make a difference.

About the Gala

Swinging with the Stars is based on the popular television show “Dancing with the Stars,” where professional dance instructors from Kelowna are paired with local celebrities. During a six-month period leading up to the gala, local celebrities volunteer their valuable time alongside their professional instructors to prepare for their dance routine. The night at the gala is all about dancing, trophies, fundraising, and whole lot of fun!

Swinging with the Stars is one of the Okanagan’s biggest and hottest nights of the year. All in support of COHA.

The gala is SOLD OUT.

Team Martin

Lane and April Martin have been supporters of COHA for a few years through their business Modern PURAIR and charitable PURKIDS Foundation. As past guests of Swinging with the Stars (SWTS) they had considered participating for a number of years. This year, when they finally signed on to be a part of SWTS, they had no idea just how much COHA and Hospice care were about to impact their lives. When rehearsals began in October it was all fun and FUNdraising, but things took a turn for The Martins in January of 2024 when Lanes mom was diagnosed with an aggressive form of ALS. Within weeks she was hospitalized and only 6 weeks from her diagnosis she spent her final days at Hospice House in Kelowna. The entire family experienced first hand just how important organizations like COHA are and how invaluable they are to our community.

Stepping in for Team Martin is Keegan Martin, a 15-year-old grade 9 student who is thrilled to participate in Swinging with the Stars. Keegan eagerly took on his role within Team Martin to support his family during the challenging time of his grandmother’s passing on February 27th of this year. Outside of the competition, Keegan finds joy in spending time with his dog Guinness, as well as with his family and friends. He also loves performing musical theatre at the Kelowna Actors Studio.
