Hospice Volunteer Services

COHA volunteers are dedicated to providing quality hospice support and services to individuals and their families throughout the Central Okanagan. Support is provided through visitation and companionship while at home, Kelowna General Hospital, residential care facilities and the Central Okanagan Hospice House. Often our volunteers provide the last hand held, the compassionate hug given, and the kind words spoken. Volunteers provide social support, assist with mealtimes, and they provide respite for caregivers. More information on Hospice Volunteer Services...

Bereavement Services

In grief people may feel sad, alone, misunderstood, isolated, bewildered, angry and guilty. Coping with tasks of daily living can feel overwhelming and exhausting. Bereavement supports are provided free of charge to help people who may be hesitant to burden family and friends with their story of loss, or who need extra supports to make sense of their grief. If you, or someone you know are seeking guidance for grief, volunteers, group supports and professional counselling are available. More information on Grief Support Programs...

Vigil Services

Volunteer Services Volunteers provide bedside support and a caring presence in the final days and hours of a person’s life. Vigil volunteers offer comfort, companionship, information and guidance. They may sit in silent reflection, play soft music, and provide a gentle touch of comfort or a listening ear for individuals or loved ones who may wish to share their thoughts and feelings. Call our Vigil Services Convenor, Shirley Jensen at 250.212.5877 and she will do her utmost to schedule one or more of our 37 Vigil Volunteers. More information on Vigil Services...
